This event, co-hosted by the CVT&SC Community Foundation, is a celebration of the Club’s storied history and its central role in Carmel Valley equine life as well as a fundraiser to help the Club “raise the roof” and continue to serve members and the community for many more years. It is open to the public and nonmembers are enthusiastically encouraged to join in the fun.

The Ponies is a show I put together that is a celebration of the horse through songs and stories. My life has been wrapped up in horses and music, so it’s only natural that I have combined both my passions together in one show, The Ponies. The Ponies is a complete evening of songs I’ve written and a few others I love, plus stories of my life’s work in the pursuit of coming together with the horse through a harmonious approach to bring out the best in both horse and human.

Drawing on a life spent with amazing teachers, such as Bill Dorrance, Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt and many others, and a life as a working cowboy where I used the horse to do a job on ranches in the Western United States. Also, all my adventures and experiences conducting Horsemanship Clinics in over 20 states and 6 foreign countries for over 20 years has lead to songs and stories both heartfelt and humorous.

This is in no way just a cowboy show, rather a celebration of the ancient draw and connection between Man and Horse, through song and story.

About Mike

Mike Beck is an engaging acoustic solo artist who regularly performs in the United States and Europe. He is a regularly featured performer at The National Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering. Mike has seven albums under his belt with original songs that have been recognized as some of the finest compositions on Western Americana out there.

The Western Horseman magazine recently picked “The 13 Best Cowboy Songs,” and included two compositions by Mike, putting him along side other writers such as Ian Tyson, Tom Russell, Lucinda Williams, and Gene Autry.
